Parker: Muller’s 2010 Bopparder Hamm-Mandelstein Riesling Spatlese feinherb offers yet another take on his most important single vineyard and is one of those wines whose bottles he each year elects to adorn with a special label displaying in large letters the initials “M. M.” There is a spiciness and smokiness that seem, in my experience, to be accentuated by the site itself but are enhanced by the presence of what Muller calls “fine, dry botrytis”; and there is the combination of palpable density with levity and bright citric penetration that characterize not only the best wines of the present collection but the best 2010 vintage Rieslings as a whole. I would expect this impressively persistent, subtly-sweet offering to be worth following for the better part of a decade, and despite the influence of botrytis, I perceive no danger of bitterness cropping up in what is really among the most polished Muller offerings I tasted. 90/100
