Parker: The 2017 Riesling Zeltlinger Sonnenuhr Auslese *** (White Capsule) is AP 40, whereas the corresponding wine for the auction is AP #42. This is deep, clear and elegant on the intense nose, which displays complex but refined aromas of concentrated citrus fruits and ripe peaches intermixed with slight toast and flint notes. On the palate, this is a full-bodied yet pure, clear, fresh, refined and tightly woven Sonnenuhr with well-dosed power, very fine tannins and some oak flavors intertwined with crystalline acidity and persistent mineral tension. This is a sleeping giant with lingering, concentrated fruit and thrillingly piquant, mouthwatering salinity. This 2017 Sonnenuhr Auslese will even improve over the years in the bottle. 98/100

Suckling:Crystalline purity, but profound intensity to the brilliant citrus notes here with everything from yuzu to mirabelle plums to citron and jasmine. Dry and deeply mineral on the palate, which is full-bodied but immensely chalky and structured. Drink now or hold. 97/100

Parker: The citrus-yellow colored 2017 Riesling Erdener Treppchen Auslese *** (White Capsule) opens with smoky, speck-like aromas along with frankincense and crystalline slate notes on the intense, concentrated yet bright and super clear nose, showing fresh oak, lemon zest and confit in the beginning. On the palate, this is a full-bodied, rich, highly concentrated yet fine, elegant and refreshing Treppchen with a firm, persistent structure and a very long, juicy, delicately sweet finish. This tensioned yet also refined and salty Treppchen is still extremely young and asks for 10 years of bottle aging. This is fascinatingly powerful and fragrant as a perfume.
