Feudi di San Gregorio Patrimo 2006

Parker: The 2006 Pàtrimo is a gorgeous wine that follows the excellent 2005. Despite my high score, I found that this wine takes a bit more time to process and digest, unlike the 2005 that leaves little doubt regarding its intensity and quality. Perhaps this wine is a bit more mercurial and fluid in terms of its presentation. Spicy aromas of clove and toasted cinnamon emerge from the glass, and the bouquet also offers a solid core of dark fruit and black cherry. Those oak-related aromas tend to include elements of toast and scorched earth. The wine also offers an evident mineral component with dark graphite and campfire ash. The winter months were extremely cold with freezing winds from Siberia and the summer brought warm temperatures. This vintage records 14.5% alcohol, the highest (along with the 2011 vintage) in this vertical. Monica Larner 93/100
