Parker: Tasted at the Ausone vertical in London. The ’61 Ausone is more youthful in appearance than the ’62 and the nose has more vigour and complexity with some lovely dried herbs, rosemary, dried blood and citrus aromas. Great definition and building in intensity with passing minutes. The palate is medium-bodied, good weight and structure, still showing vigour, not a complex Ausone but focused and masculine. Cedar, blackberry, a touch of leather and cooked meat. Foursquare and serious towards the finish, this Ausone is more impressive than pleasurable. 91/100
